The Junior Resource Centre provides children with a safe environment after
school. The programme is aimed at preventing children from drifting into gangs,
becoming
streetwise and/or becoming involved in other anti-social activities.
Approximately 60 children attend the Centre on a daily basis, where structured
programmes and activities are offered to stimulate their intellectual, emotional,
social and physical development. Activities at the centre include life skills
courses, training, supervision/guidance in completing educational homework/projects,
workshops and talks with other service providers.
The Centre:
Develops young children and youth
Ensure that children obtain academic results that would later encourage
tertiary studies
Decreases the number of children loitering on the streets
Prevents children from becoming involved in crime, drug and sexual abuse
and gang-related activities.
