Child Protection Services
The primary objective of these services is to intervene in and prevent cases
of child and sexual abuse, abandonment, neglect, truancy and violence. It
also aims to minimise the risk of abuse and to provide the children with the
tools
to help one another.
Annually these services have a direct positive impact on more than 6000 children
through counselling and outreach preventative life skills programmes and workshops
at schools. At least 600 foster children also benefit from social work support
to enhance their scholastic, social and emotional development.
These preventative and supportive services include special workshops, group
presentations and counselling services.
The goals of these services are:
- To create awareness in children of their right to protection
- To break the cycle of child abuse in the community
- To address the emotional trauma experienced by survivors of any type
of abuse
- To offer a support base for survivors
Our Child Protection Services are directly linked to the Cafda Place of Safety,
the Junior Resource Centre, Comfort Therapy Room, Youth Project and other developmental
projects.
