Easter Egg Hunt
As is customary for CAFDA, we again hosted an Easter Egg Hunt for our foster children in the age groups of 6 - 13 years old!
This year the Easter Egg Hunt was planned for 200 of our Foster Children, on Thursday, 2 April at 2.00p.m. We also invited 2 other NGO's in our area so that we could collaborate and form partnerships with them - thereby spreading the Goodwill!! The hunt took place at CAFDA's premises, The Family Centre, Corner Prince George Drive and 8th Avenue, Grassy Park!
What an exciting day it turned out to be. The weather played along and we had a gorgeous sunny day. On the day, our staff hid Easter egg tokens in the trees, in the shrubs, along pathways, in the gardens and even on the grass!!
When the two Kombi loads of children arrived, they were placed into age groups and the hunt began!! The little ones hunted for Easter eggs in and around the courtyard at the Stables. The teachers were very attentive of their charges and because the children's hands are small the teachers helped them to hold their colourful tokens. These were eagerly exchanged for the proper Easter eggs.
Thereafter the rest of the children were lined up, house rules were given, count down began and away they sped - eagerly dashing around to find the tokens. The children quickly learnt the value of the various coloured tokens - some tokens yielded as many a 3 Easter eggs each!!
What was absolutely amazing is the sense of community that the children have. They grouped together, pooled their tokens then made sure that everyone was in possession of one of each colour, blue, pink and yellow tokens with each token yielding, one, two or three Easter eggs!
All in all, the Easter eggs were equitably shared and every child went away with a number of Easter eggs in their packets!!
We could not have done this alone and we extend a grateful THANK YOU to our valuable sponsors:
Woolworth Grassy Park
Bergvliet Lions Club
for their precious donations of Easter Treats!
